How does the Grayscale Convert work?
Convert a PDF to grayscale. The tool rasterises every page at 2× resolution, applies a per-pixel luminance conversion (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B — the ITU-R BT.601 standard), and re-embeds the grayscale bitmap as the new page content. Useful for B&W laser printing (saves colour ink), reducing file size for image-heavy PDFs, or making sure a document prints uniformly without colour. CAVEAT: text becomes part of the bitmap and is no longer selectable / searchable. Run OCR PDF on the result to restore text searchability.
