About this calculator

A detailed age calculator goes beyond "you are 25". It tells you the exact years/months/days, plus the cumulative count in hours, minutes, and seconds — handy for milestone birthdays, trivia, and "I have been alive for a billion seconds" curiosities (which lands at about 31.7 years).

Frequently asked

When did I cross one billion seconds alive?+
One billion seconds is about 31.71 years (1,000,000,000 ÷ 60 ÷ 60 ÷ 24 ÷ 365.25). To find your specific date, use date-add with your birth date and add 31 years 8 months 19 days.
How does the calculator handle leap years for someone born on Feb 29?+
In non-leap years, the "anniversary" is treated as Feb 28 for the purposes of the borrow-forward arithmetic. The result still reports a full year on every Feb 28 of a non-leap year.
Are time zones taken into account?+
No — the inputs are date-only, interpreted as UTC. The hours/minutes/seconds totals are full-day multiples (×24, ×1440, ×86400), which is accurate as long as both dates are in the same calendar.
Can I find the age on a past date?+
Yes — set the "as of" field to any historical date and the calculator reports the age you were on that date.
What does "decimal years" mean?+
Total days divided by 365.25 — useful when an exact year-fraction is needed (insurance forms, school placement). It is not the same as the years-and-months count, which is calendar-exact.
Will I get a different number on the actual second I was born?+
No — this calculator works at day granularity. To get a literal second-by-second countdown to a milestone, use the countdown-to-date calculator with your target birthday.
