By using ScoutMyTool you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short and written in plain English. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. If something here is unclear, email admin@scoutmytool.com.
1. The service
ScoutMyTool provides free online tools — calculators, PDF utilities, document templates, and unit converters — funded by advertising. The tools are provided “as is” and “as available” with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any specific purpose.
We may add, change, or remove tools at any time without notice.
2. Not professional advice
This is the most important section. Read it.
- Financial calculators (mortgage, loan, retirement, tax, investment, etc.) are educational tools, not financial advice. Numbers they produce are estimates based on the inputs you provide and standard formulas. Consult a licensed financial advisor before making any significant financial decision.
- Health calculators (BMI, calorie, BMR, body fat, etc.) are educational tools, not medical advice. They use general population formulas and do not account for individual medical conditions. Consult a physician, dietitian, or other licensed healthcare professional for medical decisions.
- Document templates (NDAs, contracts, agreements, etc.) are informational starting points, not legal advice. They are not reviewed by a lawyer in your jurisdiction. Laws vary by country, state, and situation. Consult a licensed attorney before relying on any document for a legal purpose.
- Unit and currency converters use standard conversion factors and reference rates that may differ from real-time market rates. Do not use them for trading, banking, or other transactions where exact figures matter.
We are not responsible for decisions you make based on outputs from these tools.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Abuse the service in ways that degrade availability for others (excessive automated requests, scraping at scale, denial-of-service attempts).
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from any compiled assets we ship.
- Frame, mirror, or rehost the site in a way that misrepresents authorship.
- Use the site to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
- Use the embeddable widgets to misrepresent ScoutMyTool’s endorsement of any product or service.
We may rate-limit, block, or refuse service to anyone who breaks these rules.
4. Intellectual property
We own the site and the tools. The brand, design, layout, code, and content of ScoutMyTool are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.
You own your inputs and outputs. Files you process with our PDF tools and documents you generate from our templates are yours. We do not see them (everything runs in your browser) and we claim no rights to them.
5. Embeddable widgets
We offer embeddable versions of many of our calculators (see /embed-our-tools). You may embed them on any website that you control, free of charge, on the condition that the “Powered by ScoutMyTool” backlink in the embed remains visible and functional. We may revoke this permission for embeds on sites that violate section 3 or this section.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScoutMyTool, its operators, and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to loss of profit, data, or goodwill. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the service is limited to USD $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (whichever is greater). Because the service is free, that is generally USD $100.
7. Privacy & advertising
How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy. The site is funded by Google AdSense; using the site implies acceptance of the advertising practices described there.
8. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for any user, at any time, with or without notice, for behaviour that violates these terms or that we judge harmful to other users or the service.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law gives you mandatory rights, those rights are not waived by these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when. Continued use of the site after a substantive change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least 14 days.
