About this template

A clear rate sheet is the difference between a dog-walking side gig and a business clients take seriously. It answers the questions every prospective client asks before they call — what does a walk cost, do you offer packages, what happens on holidays, and how do I pay — so you spend less time quoting and more time walking. The structure that works is **per-walk rates by duration first** (a quick potty break, a standard 30-minute walk, a longer 60-minute walk, and a per-dog group rate), then **prepaid package deals** that reward regular clients with a lower effective per-walk price, then **add-ons, surcharges, and policies**. This template computes the **per-walk cost of each package automatically** from the total price and walk count, so a "$220 for 10 walks" pack instantly shows "$22.00 per walk" — which makes the savings obvious and prevents the arithmetic mistakes that quietly erode your margin. A few specifics matter for dog walkers in particular. **Group-walk size is regulated in many cities** — New York City caps a single walker at 8 leashed dogs and Boston at 4 — so price and advertise within your local limit. **Holiday and after-hours surcharges** are standard and worth stating up front rather than springing on a client. And because this is a **rate sheet, not a contract**, pair it with a signed pet-care or dog-walking agreement that covers liability, emergency vet authority, and key handling. Keep the sheet to one page, put your contact details and an effective date at the top, and refresh it when your rates change.

When to use it

  • Publishing pricing for a dog-walking service or side business.
  • Sending a prospective client a one-page price list before booking.
  • Posting rates on a website, flyer, or neighborhood app listing.
  • Comparing single-walk vs. prepaid-package economics for clients.

What to include

  • Per-walk rates by duration (quick visit, 30-min, 60-min, group).
  • Prepaid package deals with the per-walk price shown.
  • Add-on services (medication, key handling, puppy/senior care).
  • After-hours, holiday, and last-minute surcharges stated up front.
  • Cancellation policy, payment terms, and an effective date.

Frequently asked

Set the package total so the per-walk price (which this sheet calculates for you) is modestly below your single-walk rate — a 5–15% discount is typical. The goal is to reward commitment and smooth your schedule without giving away margin. Show the per-walk figure so clients can see the savings.

Commercial pet-care licensing, bonding, insurance, and group-walk limits vary by state and city — confirm local requirements, and use a signed pet-care/dog-walking agreement for the binding terms of service.
Jurisdiction: General — a pricing / rate sheet for an independent dog-walking service. Not a contract; commercial pet-care licensing, bonding, and insurance requirements vary by state and city (e.g. NYC and Boston cap leashed group-walk size). Confirm local rules before advertising paid services.
