How does the PDF/UA Converter work?
PDF/UA is the international accessibility standard for PDF — it tells assistive technology how to read the document. True PDF/UA compliance requires a tagged structure tree (headings, paragraphs, alt text) that can only be authored at source-document time. This tool applies the document-level half of the standard: it sets the document language, marks the doc as tagged via /MarkInfo, ensures a Title is present, and embeds a PDF/UA XMP metadata claim. The result is a noticeably more accessible PDF and a baseline that PDF/UA validators will accept on the document-level checks. For full conformance, also run the source through a tagging-aware authoring tool (Word "Save as PDF" with accessibility on, LibreOffice Tagged PDF export).
