About this tool
A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) is the retirement-income counterpart to SIP — you have a lump-sum corpus in a mutual fund, and you withdraw a fixed amount every month. The remaining balance keeps earning market returns while you draw down. This calculator shows how many years the money lasts + what the balance looks like month over month, given your withdrawal rate and expected return.
Formula & notes
Monthly balance after withdrawal = (previous balance × (1 + i)) − withdrawal, where i is monthly return rate. The calculator iterates month-by-month until the balance hits zero. Useful for retirement planning: at what monthly withdrawal does your ₹1 crore corpus last 25 years vs 30 years? Typical rule of thumb: 4% annual withdrawal (0.33% monthly) from an equity-heavy corpus lasts 30+ years historically.
