What this measures
Over time, market moves push a portfolio away from its target allocation — winners grow to become oversized, losers shrink. Rebalancing back to target is a disciplined way to sell high and buy low. This calculator computes exactly how much to buy or sell of each holding to reach a target percentage mix.
Formula & example
Enter the current value and target percentage weight of each asset (up to 6). The calculator shows current vs target dollar amounts and the delta — positive = buy, negative = sell. Total target percent must sum to 100. Does not account for tax; consider using new contributions to rebalance in taxable accounts.
