About this template
An ATS-friendly resume gets parsed correctly by software before it ever reaches a human reviewer. The rules are simple but unforgiving: plain text in a single column, standard section headings (Summary, Experience, Education, Skills), no tables, no graphics, no headers/footers, no two-column layouts, and a font the ATS recognises (Arial, Calibri, Helvetica, Times New Roman). Most Fortune 500 ATSes — Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS — will silently drop content trapped inside text-boxes or graphics. Keep the date format consistent ("2022 — Present", not "Jan 2022 - now"). Use "- " bullet markers, not symbols. The single-page constraint forces you to lead with outcomes ("activation +18%") rather than responsibilities ("worked on onboarding").
When to use it
- Applying to roles via large-company application portals (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever)
- Early-career to mid-career roles where 1 page is the expectation (≤ 10 years experience)
- When you want a clean PDF that re-flows to plain text without losing structure
What to include
- Header: name, headline, email, phone, location, ONE link (portfolio or LinkedIn)
- Summary: 2-3 lines, results-oriented, no first-person pronouns
- 3-5 most recent roles — title, company, dates, location + 3-5 bullets per role
- Education: degree, school, graduation year (omit GPA after 3+ years experience)
- Skills: comma-separated keyword list (matches ATS keyword search)
