Step-by-step
- Convert bodyweight to kg: 90.00 kg.
- Convert total to kg: 700.00 kg.
- Polynomial: a4·bw⁴ + a3·bw³ + a2·bw² + a1·bw + a0 = 773.2746.
- DOTS coef = 500 / 773.2746 = 0.6466.
- DOTS = total × coef = 700.00 × 0.6466 = 452.62.
How to use this calculator
- Pick sex.
- Enter bodyweight (any unit).
- Enter powerlifting total = best squat + bench + deadlift.
- Compare DOTS across friends, weight classes, sexes.
About this calculator
DOTS (Dynamic Objective Team Scoring) replaced Wilks at the IPF in 2020 to address bias issues at extreme bodyweights. Like Wilks, it normalizes powerlifting totals across weight classes — higher score = stronger pound-for-pound. The coefficients (Tim Konertz, 2020) use a 4th-degree polynomial of bodyweight, simpler than Wilks' 5th-degree. Most modern federations and tracking apps (OpenPowerlifting, Strength Level) display DOTS by default. Elite male: 475+. World-class: 525+. Female elite: 475+ (different curve, similar rarity).
Frequently asked
DOTS replaced Wilks at the IPF in 2020. IPF GL is a separate IPF formula for international ranking. DOTS is the gym-floor standard now; Wilks remains widespread on older platforms.
