About this calculator

Multiplier: business days × hours per day. Useful for project staffing estimates ("we have 22 business days × 8 hours = 176 hours of capacity"). Combine with hourly rates for cost.

Frequently asked

Should I include lunch?+
Convention: count only "billable" or "productive" hours. A 9-5 with 1-hour lunch is 7 hours. A 9-5 with 30-min unpaid lunch is 7.5.
Part-time?+
Use proportional hours/day (e.g., 4 hours/day × 22 days = 88 hours).
Overtime?+
Not modeled. For OT-aware calculations, use time-card-weekly which handles 40+ hour weeks separately.
Does this account for vacation/PTO?+
No — subtract those days from your business-day count manually.
Annual capacity?+
~250 business days × 8 hours = 2,000 hours/year (the standard "FTE" assumption).
