IBA is the international professional body for bartending and codifies the measures used in competition cocktails. The underlying ml definitions for oz, tsp, tbsp come from NIST SP 811. Practitioner conventions (dash, barspoon, splash, rinse) follow modern industry consensus (Death & Co, Liquid Intelligence, PDT).

Limitations

US/IBA conventions only. UK 25/35 ml pub measures and EU 20-50 ml shots vary by jurisdiction.
Dash is approximate (~0.9 ml) — actual volume depends on the dasher top and bottle viscosity.
Splash and rinse are colloquial — useful for taste but not for reproducibility.
Doesn't convert weight units (some recipes call for grams of syrup or muddled fruit) — use the recipe-scaler for cross-discipline conversions.
