About this calculator

Flooring is sold by the box (or by sq yd for carpet). Coverage per box varies by manufacturer and type. Standard waste: 10% for clean rectangles; 15-20% for diagonal patterns or complex layouts. Always order extra — manufacturer dye lots vary, so post-install matching is hard.
