What encoding is the CSV?

UTF-8. Most modern spreadsheet apps detect this automatically; if Excel shows garbled characters, use Data → From Text and explicitly choose UTF-8.

Will cells wrap if they have line breaks?

No — line breaks within cells are removed. Each row in the CSV corresponds to one line in the source PDF.

Will the CSV open cleanly in Excel and Google Sheets?

Yes. The output is standard RFC-4180 CSV with proper quoting for fields containing commas, newlines, or double-quotes. UTF-8 with a BOM so Excel on Windows opens non-Latin characters correctly.

Can I choose a semicolon or tab delimiter?

Yes. The Delimiter option supports comma (US default), semicolon (European default), tab (for TSV output), or pipe. Pick whichever your downstream tool expects — many European Excel installations parse a comma-delimited file as one giant column, so semicolon or tab works better there.

What if my PDF table has merged cells?

The extractor writes merged cells to the CSV row that would contain their top-left corner. The remaining cells of the merge appear as empty. If you need to preserve merge intent, our PDF-to-Excel tool keeps the visual merge in the output XLSX; CSV has no way to represent that so this is a format limitation.
