How does the PDF to Excel work?

Pull data out of a PDF and into an Excel file. Drop your PDF, choose XLSX (modern Excel, recommended) or XLS (legacy Excel 97–2003 for older systems), and click Convert. The tool detects column boundaries from the spacing between values and produces a spreadsheet you can edit, sort, and chart. Scanned PDFs are supported — the text is recognised from the page images first. Quality varies: best results come from clean tabular layouts like financial statements, price lists, and exported data tables. Tables with merged cells, complex hierarchies, or values that wrap across multiple lines often need a quick cleanup in Excel after — not every PDF table can be perfectly reconstructed.

Frequently asked

Detecting column boundaries from a PDF is hard when the original used merged cells, wrapped text, or single-space gutters between columns. The tool gets the data into the right ballpark; some hand-tidying in Excel is sometimes needed.
