Why JSON and not a normal form?

Document templates each have different fields — there is no static set we could put in this tool's form. JSON is the lowest-friction generic interface. The /docs/ page is what you want for an interactive UI.

Can I pre-fill a template and then download from this tool?

In v1 you supply JSON manually. A "share link" pre-fill is on the roadmap.

Are the files uploaded?

No — template lookup, body rendering, and PDF assembly all run in your browser.
