How does the Edit Text (Overlay) work?

Add new text to a PDF page — handy for filling in non-form documents, correcting a stray typo by drawing the right word over the wrong one, or scribbling a quick note on top of a page. We are honest about scope: this is text *overlay*, not full text replacement. The original characters are still there underneath; you are drawing new text on top. Multi-line input is supported (one line per newline). For genuinely editing existing text content, you would need to re-author the document in Word or LibreOffice and re-export to PDF.

🔒 Security & Privacy

All processing happens on your device. Your files never leave your browser, never touch our servers, and are not stored anywhere. Close the tab and the file is gone.

Frequently asked

No — pdf-lib does not support text replacement. To make the underlying text invisible, draw a white rectangle (Add Image won't do this — for true content removal, use Permanent Redaction).
