About this calculator
Gravel is sold by both cubic yard and ton. Most stone yards use weight, so converting is essential. Density varies by stone type — pea gravel ≈ 1.35 t/yd³, crushed limestone ≈ 1.4, larger ¾" stone closer to 1.5. For a 4-inch driveway base, plan on roughly one yard per 80 ft².
