About this calculator

Weeks between dates is just days divided by seven, but it is useful in its own right when you are budgeting time, scheduling pay periods, or counting pregnancy weeks. This calculator returns both the decimal value (1.43 weeks) and the rounded "1 week and 3 days" form so you can use whichever suits.

Frequently asked

How are partial weeks handled?+
The primary number is the exact decimal — total days divided by seven. The hint underneath shows the same value as a whole-weeks-plus-remainder-days expression.
What counts as one week?+
Seven calendar days. Day-of-the-week boundaries do not matter for this calculator — Monday-to-the-next-Monday is exactly one week, and so is Wednesday-to-the-next-Wednesday.
Does this match how pregnancy weeks are counted?+
Pregnancy weeks are conventionally counted from the last menstrual period (LMP), so it is the same calendar-week math as here. For trimester breakdowns and detailed gestational age, use the pregnancy-week-calculator instead.
Why might the result not be a clean fraction?+
Because most date pairs do not differ by an exact multiple of 7. Anything other than 0, 7, 14, 21, … will produce a remainder.
Can I count weeks for a future date?+
Yes — pick any future date and the calculator will report the gap. The math works the same whether the gap is in the past or the future.
