What if the PDF only has restrictions, not a password?

Some PDFs use owner-only restrictions (preventing printing or copying) without a real user password. Try with an empty password field first — sometimes that's enough to remove the restrictions.

Will the unlocked file work everywhere?

Yes — the output is a standard PDF with no password, opens in any reader. Original content (text, images, formatting) is unchanged.

Does this work on all encryption types?

Yes for the standard PDF encryption levels (AES-256, AES-128, and the older 40/128-bit). Some bespoke or DRM-locked PDFs may not unlock — that's by design.

What happens if I enter the wrong password?

The tool returns a clear "Wrong password" error (or whatever specific message the underlying decryption library reports). It doesn't partially unlock or silently produce a corrupt file — either you get a fully decrypted PDF or you get an actionable error.

My PDF isn't encrypted but I tried to unlock it anyway.

What's the file-size limit?
