About this calculator
Dehumidifier capacity is measured in pints of water removed per 24 hours at standard test conditions (DOE 2019). Common residential sizes: 22, 35, 50 pint. Commercial / basement: 70-150 pint. Sizing depends on both area and existing humidity — wetter rooms need bigger units.
Frequently asked
New test method (lower temp/humidity) gives smaller pint numbers. A 50-pint pre-2019 unit is now rated 35-40 pints. Don't mix old and new ratings.
